Sax

I'm going to be having my connections fiddled with this weekend, so I don't know what will become of me. Hopefully I will be back - faster and looser...
Meanwhile, here is a musical interlude and a reminder to practice, practice, practice...

It sounds great Miss Scarlet, but was she really blowing that sax? Her cheeks and chest didn't seem to be moving much. I'm sure you wouldn't ever mime to a tape.

Ginro said...

Excellent. I love that, well that and Baker Street, lol.

GB: You shouldn't blow out your cheeks when playing the sax. It's a laid back and relaxed performance. Being puffed up is for trumpets.

Ginro: Yep, I'm learning Baker Street - it's going to take time! 'Will You' is another challenging sax piece.

Nothing like a nice bit of sax on a Friday afternoon.

So it's true, Scarlet, you are ginger! How clever to work an episode of Eastenders into it. I love that solo from Baker Street too. I hope you'll bring your sax at Christmas and give us a blast of Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer.

Hope it works out. Great sax player.

If you need a hand with your wiring I am happy to pop by... I could bring the makings for Cheeky Vimto and some Cheese Thins and we could make a night of it...

Who doesn't love sax?

Some of my fave saxification:

David Sanborn is absolutely brilliant on Fascination and Somebody Up There Likes Me!
The Big Man Clarence Clemens on Jungleland will have you in tears.

Oh and Bowie's first few bars on his cover version of the Who's I Can't Explain on Pinups is so cool...stuck in me 'ead it is.

I also like Boots Randolph Yakkety Yak and of course Average White Band..Pick Up The Pieces..goes without sayin' eh?

Satchmo cheeks not a good look for a girl - as you say relaxed, Saxy, firm lips the way to go Miss Scarlet (the trinity of Candy, Kenny & Davey (Sanborn) have shown the way ..)

scarlet-blue said...

Dave: Yes, it's always relaxing...

Daphne: I'm not ginger... sob... It was Bianca playing the sax and Ricky on guitar... the brunette was Tiffany... she was just about to get run over by Frank after having it away with Clyde Tavernier... And then Pat turns up in her blonde wig and earrings...

Pat: I will be joining you with computer woes! I'm dreading it. I will be discommunicated...

Mutts: Okay Mutts, I'll bring some pies and lemonade - I always need help with wiring... I think it's going to be a long weekend...

Mr Common: Tears for Fears!!! Yes shall we have that for Jukebox Monday??? Hopefully I'll be around to do that! I have a bit of Blondie lined up and now Tears for Fears - The Working Hour... let's face it one hour of work on a Monday is quite enough. Maybe Baker Street as well?? And yes maybe Fascination...

Kate: You snuck in when I wasn't looking! I'm going to have to sift through all this for Jukebox Monday - plenty to choose from.

Lovely Scarlet.
But is that Ronaldinho or David Seaman in the background?
Sorry - I'm always in footie mode at the weekend.

Ginro said...

Oh yes! Baker Street. Big thumbs up from me, lol.

Faster, looser, and more well practiced without any puffing and with an outstanding sound-track. That's an impressive delivery you've got :-)

Saxy.

the MITM plays alto, tenor and soprano, sugar! xoxox (good luck with the new connections)

But who warms up your reeds?

inkspot said...

Wow, she is _hot_. And she can play. Are all lady saxophonists like that? I bet they are. The guitarist bloke can play too, but him hit with ugly stick. By comparison, I'm not mean.

There used to be a man called Sax on the TV with a moustache. It was a programme that the whole nation hated with its guts called the good old days.
He would say things like
For your delectation; the delicious, the discombobulating, the dyspeptic, the diaphanous, with her saxophonetic device, I give you…Miss…Scarlet…BLUE!!!!
Then he’d hit his gavel off the woodwork.
It was really weird, especially on green microdot acid.

Doccie: I think that was Leonard Sachs. Leeds Variety or some such.

scarlet-blue said...

Kaz: Alas, I know nothing about football... But David Seaman is a safe pair of hands isn't he?

Ginro: Okay, we'll have that then. It looks like it might be an extensive Jukebox Monday!

Wendy: I'm getting worried now, disconnection and fiddling of wires is imminent... If it doesn't work then there will be lots of puffing... and general sobbing...

MJ: I try.. but I think I only succeed at being floozy...

Savannah: I've tried a tenor. I'm quite short so it looked a bit odd.. and I couldn't reach the lowest notes... not generally a problem for me...

Dotts: Now you know you have to suck them first to make them moist...

Mr Inkybabes: That's Dave Stewart Mr Inky! Of course all lady saxophonists are hot. We have strong mouths. And fast tongues.

Dr Maroon: Yep, I remember The Good Old Days. Sadly. It was Leonard Sachs. He used to like bashing his hammer.

Pat: Thank-you Pat.. we're reading from the same page...

Right, I think it's time... Hope to see you all soon....

Hi Scarlet, not Barbara Thompson of Paraphanalia, then? (The only female sax player I've heard of!) Is that "Will You" as in the the Hazel O'Connor song? I used to have that album, used to really like her.
